Rainbow Caravan

Towed through wind and snow from England, winter 2012, this caravan has been refurbished, glammed up a bit and given a solar panel to charge the battery, which powers the low wattage lighting and, on a sunny day, enough power to charge a phone, tablet etc.

It's got it's own deck on the south side overlooking the wild woodland and hills and Grace has painted a rainbow on the side for good measure.

The caravan sleeps 4 with permanent double bed and 1 double bed when the sofa is folded down. In classic caravan style, there's a mini a kitchen with sink, twin hob, oven, grill and fridge so it's all set up for self catering, though of course, if you let us know in advance, you can enjoy breakfast and dinner over at strawbale HQ.

The composting loo with a view and solar/gas shower are shared with the yurt dwellers.

So, if you fancy an off-grid stay in the little blue caravan with a big green view check out the prices.

Mongolian Yurt

This yurt's got history! In the wake of an Eastern adventure, a friend of ours shipped it over from Mongolia a few years ago and weathered a couple of Asturian winters in it with his wife and 4 kids. Now it's been retired to El Toral, where it provides a beautiful shelter for those who want to get away from the pressures of modern life i.e. the yurt has no electricity and is lit by candles and lanterns.

Nestled in the hillside next to the spring deck, the yurt is camping at its most glamorous (probably) and has been variously described by guests as romantic, relaxing and inspirational.

The yurt can sleep up to 5 people, with a double bed, a single bed and double sofa bed (we also have a travel cot available), however we are flexible and if you want to squeeze more in, contact us.

You can relax on the spring deck and listen to cow bells gently chiming. Next to deck there is a simple field kitchen with a twin hob, a sink and all the utensils you need to cook basic meals. Though of course, if you let us know in advance, you can enjoy breakfast and dinner over at strawbale HQ.

The composting toilet and solar/gas shower are shared with the caravan gang. So, if you want an off-grid adventure in our Mongolian Yurt, check out our prices.

Cosy Coco Cabana

Cabana's are found all over rural Spain, essentially you'd have the livestock below and the shepherd would live above. Ours was a leaking wreck when we arrived. With the help of friends and volunteers we've gradually renovated the place into something a bit special. We've tried to keep to traditional and sustainable building techniques using, lime based mortar, local stone, our own coppiced Sweet Chestnut and reclaimed clay tiles. The windows and doors have been hand crafted on site, using locally sourced sweet chestnut.

The cabana has a shower room, toilet and small kitchen and can sleep up to 6: upstairs is open plan and has a double bed and a bunk bed; downstairs there is a comfy sofa that converts into a double bed.

As with all the facilities on site the cabana is off grid. The water is supplied by our private spring and all electricity is from solar power: our power supply is not designed to cater for electrical appliances with heating elements such as hair dryers, toaster, kettle, etc.

If you want a break from all that tiresome self catering, have a look at our breakfast and dinner sample menus.

So, if you fancy an off-grid stay in a beautiful stone barn have a look at our prices.

An exclusive five star eco life changing experience!
